LEVYdance presents the Salon Performing arts showcase
10 local artists 10 hours of free rehearsal space take risks, develop ideas, explore and collaborate to create a new work or develop an old one
Performers who may not need the rehearsal space are offered a chance to perform in open, casual setting.
Each artist presents a **5-minute piece, or excerpt**
in a
casual speakeasy-style showcase followed by a DJ-hosted dance
party
Artists are encouraged to stay after the showcase, mingle with one another, seek audience feeback, finish off the free food, and, of course, DANCE PARTY.
Past Salons included various musicians: violists, percussion ensembles, acoustic guitar & small bands,
dancers: contemporary, ballet, burlesque, aerial & flamenco,
clowns, film showings, live mural painting, costume designers, poetry readings & theatrical acts.
the cross-pollination of audiences:
With 10 different artists performing 5 minutes
each, the audience gets to enjoy a "channel-surfing" effect of flipping through
various performing arts. The Salons work amazingly well when **every artist sets a
goal to bring people out** to see the performance exposing friends, supporters & performing arts enthusiasts to something they might not have otherwise seen.
**There is no built-in audience for the Salon. Audience composition varies greatly from showcase to showcase
LEVYdance wishes to extend the opportunity to perform in the Salon to as many artists in the Bay Area as possible. Bands, visual artists, and artists of all genres are encouraged to apply regardless of any of the factors below. The Salon is curated based on the following:
Variety of Disciplines
Variety of Performers per Act, i.e. solo vs. group Need for Rehearsal Space

Ten free rehearsal hours can be booked by phone or email with LEVYstudio. Availability is most abundant for daytime, weekday rehearsals. Nights and weekends are limited. View the current schedule at LEVYstudio.org
