LEVYdance raised more than $7,900 on #GivingTuesday 2018, including $1,500 in matching funds from Facebook and PayPal.
Facebook partnered with PayPal to match up to $7 million in donations made on Facebook on November 27, 2018, to eligible U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits.
Facebook online fundraisers raked in $125 million for charities – nearly three times the $45 million raised on Giving Tuesday 2017. LEVYdance’s final tally of $7,902 represents 226% of the company’s $3,500 fundraising goal.
Facebook’s matching funds became available at 5 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on Nov. 27 and were gone within “a matter of seconds,” according to the social media giant. By 6:05 a.m. PST, the company issued an update confirming the matching funds were exhausted.
“Our goal is to help people support causes they care about by making it easier to fundraise on Facebook,” says Naomi Gleit, Facebook’s Vice President of Social Good. “It’s incredibly inspiring and humbling to see the impact our community is having for causes big and small around the world.”
