Supported Independent Yoga Practice

 

This class is based on the classical teachings of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois but is not strictly the Ashtanga method. Therapeutics and modifications are given where it seems fit. 

The Ashtanga system includes a set sequence of postures. Postures are linked together with breath and movement. Each posture builds on the previous one. This class is not a group lead class, rather, each student gets individual support with one on one instruction from the teacher.  This style of yoga enables each student to learn at his or her own pace.  The student memorizes their sequence and practices it on their own during the class. This gives the student the ability to develop a strong self-awareness, self-discipline, and independence with in the context of the class. The teacher will continue to support each student through physical adjustments and some verbal instruction as they practice.

This class allows a flexible start time (come any time between 7am-9am) and the length of practice will grow over time.  No experience with the sequence is necessary and beginning students are welcome.

Tuesdays 7am-9am

Payment is $125 per month for four Tuesdays per month.
